The OSG 20th Anniversary Award

2026 is the 20th Anniversary of Outdoor Service Guides and we are celebrating with a special Anniversary Award!

Symbolism

The 20th Anniversary Award shows the number 20 on a gray background, flanked by two oak leaves evoking a laurel wreath. The oak leaves symbolize strength, endurance, and longevity, while the laurel wreath is a symbol of triumph. The colors of the badge and number are symbolic of platinum and emerald, two materials traditionally associated with 20th Anniversaries, while the colors of the leaves represent the changing of the seasons as we move into our third decade as an organization.

Earning the Award

The 20th Anniversary Award may be worn by guides of any section. Requirements may be signed off on by your section or crew leader, your Group Leader, or your Lone Outdoor Service Guides Regional Commissioner.

Requirements

1. Exhibit the motto of your OSG section during 2026:

  • Chipmunks: “Share & Prepare”

  • Otters: “Busy & Bright”

  • Timberwolves: “Do Your Best”

  • Pathfinders: “Be Prepared”

  • Rovers: “Service”

2. Participate in at least 6 troop activities during 2026. You could do this with your OSG group, family, friends, or on your own. Some ideas include:

  • Work on badge requirements or skills

  • Attend an OSG meeting or regional event

  • Do a service project in your community

  • Go on a camping trip

  • Go on a hike, paddle, outdoor adventure, or nature excursion

  • Participate in a parade

  • Volunteer your time with OSG as a leader or adult helper

Display

The 20th Anniversary Award badge is worn next to the Inclusive badge (Inclusive Badge should always be closer to the center of the shirt, and thereby closer to the guide’s heart).

A service guide’s badges tell their story; read left to right, it begins with inclusion and tells the other events in chronological order.

A guide may choose to add the 20th Anniversary Award above their Inclusive badge rather than remove and re-sew both. In that case, they should place the badges side-by-side on their next uniform shirt, whether it’s because they move to the next size up or when they swim/leap to a new Section.

In any case, the 20th Anniversary Award is yours to wear as long as you remain an OSG member, for participating in the Outdoor Service Guide’s 20th Anniversary year!
